Sprinkler Damage

It is important to have your sprinklers maintained.  There are several ways sprinklers can damage your home and facility.

  1. Hard water marks on the glass of your windows also known as calcium deposits.  This is difficult and costly to remove and it can get to the point where it needs to be buffed off the glass or complete replacement.
  2. The constant moisture hitting wood surfaces such as fences and siding will speed up rot.  Once it it starts replacement is sometimes the only option.
  3. Mildew and mold growth on outdoor hard surfaces are also a hassle of un kept sprinklers.  Mold, mildew and algae need a moist environment to grow.  If your sprinklers are going off to often or over spraying onto other surfaces it can cause green and black staining.
  4. Over spray on to driveways, patios and walkways can leave rust like stains that are difficult to remove from concrete and often take a professional crew to remove such as Pine Creek Services.

What to do if you are having these problems
  1. Look for a sprinkler company that is in your area frequently.
  2. Most sprinklers go off at night so you don't see what it is doing when you are sleeping.  Change them to the day time so you can keep on eye on over spray
  3. Have the turned on and checked by a sprinkler company and walk your property with them showing them the area that you are concerned about.
  4. Think about over spray when planting your plans so water can get to them with out hitting your building and hardscapes.

Vine Dot Removal

Removing vines off your house can be a daunting and process.   More often than not you will have dots left over that take years to rot off.

We recently completed a project in St Paul with removal of the dots.

  1. Remove all the vines you possibly can.  This will allow the chemical solution to absorb into the the dots only and not the vine.
  2. Stiff brush what is left over this scours the dots and allows the chemical to penetrate faster.
  3. Now you apply you chemical solution to the the dots to speed up the decomposition processes.
  4. The dots will start to turn gray to white and finally translucent.  This takes a few hours for the processes to work and you have to have patience.
  5. You may have to repeat the last processes a few times to get it to work.

Here is a video explaining how we cleaned the mildew and vine dots of the side off the house.

If you have a project like this and need some help removing the vines and what is left over let us know.
